Virtual Pediatric Systems, LLC (VPS) is a hub of information sharing for pediatric critical care physicians. In addition to being a resource for physicians, VPS also provides learning opportunities through the VPS University.
The organization created the university to provide pediatric physicians a place to analyze data and influence change in pediatric intensive care units (PICU). Launched in 2018, VPS University offers a three-level certification course that revolves around information sharing, a quality improvement project, and a research project.
The VPS-Certified Level I certification is open to certified VPS site coordinators, empowering them to share VPS data with PICU staff, nursing leadership, hospital executives, and PICU attending physicians. The program is a 12-month online, interactive course that meets for two hours. Attendees participate in hands-on activities once a month.
The VPS-Certified Level II module asks participants to complete a PICU-based project. Finally, with Certified Levels I and II completed, students must complete a research project with internal data or from the VPS comparative dataset. Outside of these activities, students must participate in course discussions and presentations.
TakiTherse offers advantages related to promoting care and quality improvement in pediatric care. It also allows practitioners to practice in a safe environment, create value from data, and use data for cost benefits.
